Web Design Portfolio
This portfolio shows a selection of websites I have built and maintain; with some brief information about each site. Click on the images or follow the links to view the live websites.
Westminster Conference
The Westminster Conference meets in London for two days annually and comprises six speakers presenting papers examining the history, doctrine and practice of people, events and churches associated with the Puritans including their forebears and successors.
The site is built with the ExpressionEngine content management system, and lists all the past papers since 1950, and has audio recordings of the more recent lectures.

Scottish Reformation Society
The Scottish Reformation Society exists to defend and promote the work of the Protestant Reformation in Scotland; and owns the historic Magdalen Chapel which is the headquarters of the Society.
The site header has been designed to resemble the early editions of the Society’s Bulwark magazine, first published in 1851.

African Prisons Project
The African Prisons Project is a UK based organisation working to improve conditions in African prisons, which are often extremely harsh. The project was started by Alexander McLean while he was in Uganda on his gap year.
Due to an inefficient legal system in some african countries, people spend an average of 3 years in prison before they even go to trial to have their case heard before a judge. One man who had not been found guilty of anything could not go to court because the authorities had lost his case file, and could not even say what he had been charged with. The prison would not release him without a “not-guilty” verdict but no judge could try his case when there was no charge or evidence.
The African Prisons Project aims to help by building health clinics, providing education and trying to address the legal needs.
Their motto is: “Dignity and hope for prisoners
through health, education and justice”.
In November 2007 Alexander won the overall prize in the Beacon Prize Awards, which honour outstanding individuals who have given money, time or skills to create and help charitable causes. You can read about this on the Cabinet Office Website.

The Access to Justice Foundation
The Access to Justice Foundation is a charity established to receive and distribute funds to help provide free of charge (pro bono) legal assistance to those who need it most. It was launched on 7 October 2008 at a special reception in London hosted by Coutts, and operates under Section 194 of the Legal Services Act 2007.
The Attorney General, Baroness Scotland QC, said: “This is a historic launch. As guardian of the public interest it is of great importance to me that the Access to Justice Foundation has been created.”
Michael Napier CBE, QC, the Attorney General’s Pro Bono Envoy, said: “This initiative unlocks new money to help pro bono organisations nationally, and the advice sector regionally.”

Reformation Scotland
Reformation-Scotland is the website of the Inverness Branch of the Scottish Reformation Society. As well as giving information about local branch meetings and lectures, the site provides information about the history, theology and principles of the Scottish Reformation.
The design reflects the historical nature of this site: the header resembles stone work with chiseled letters, and the content is displayed over a collection of loose sheets of paper.
